Matt Burnett, Adirondack Guide

Adirondack backcountry wilderness adventures for all seasons

Where To Find Me – Winter & Spring 2018

A native of the Long Lake/Whitney Park area, I’ve spent my lifetime paddling, hiking, hunting and fishing in the Adirondack backcountry. An Assistant Forest Ranger for the Department of Environmental Conservation for over 10 years, I’m particularly familiar with the Western High Peaks Wilderness, The Northville-Lake Placid Trail, The Raquette River watershed, and the St. Regis Canoe Area. I’m also a winter 46er and veteran of outdoor education programming with a variety of organizations, including Paul Smiths, Long Lake and Saranac Lake School systems, and the Adirondack Mountain Club.

I specialize in Canoe Camping, Backpacking, Backcountry Fishing and Winter expeditions. I can customize trips for families, groups and individuals.

I am currently at work developing a new website for Matt Burnett Guiding.

ABOUT

As a native of the Adirondack Mountain Region, my career as an artist has been molded by an unusually rural upbringing and access to the natural resources of upstate New York. Throughout my life I have been drawn towards the exploration of primordial environments. Through continual inquiry and engagement with wilderness –as site, as concept, and above all as experience—I have adopted painting as a means through which to engage in the non-sentient, as a device for seeking the objective access of structure and growth beyond human influence.
